Grant Recipients

Inspired by the values of professionalism, service, compassion and responsibility, the mission of the BCBAF is to promote access to justice, legal education, and charity in accordance with the mission and goals of the Butler County Bar Association. 

With the generous support of the BCBA and its members, both firm and individual, we are proud to be able to award funds for deserving projects for this grant cycle. It is truly a pleasure to award and reward these projects and their organizations for the great work they do in the community. The BCBAF recognizes that it is important for the legal profession to stay active in the community, as without the community, there is no practice of law.

 

2024 Butler County Bar Association Foundation Awards $30,000.00
to Justice and Charity Related Causes

2024 Butler County Bar Association Foundation Awards
$30,000.00 to Justice and Charity Related Causes

Summit School, Inc., DBA The Summit Academy, award of $2,000

Summit School is a private, residential school for at-risk male adolescents referred by probation and Children, Youth and Families (CYF). All students are court-ordered and stays average 6-12 months, depending on court determination. Beyond academic deficiencies, students face significant hurdles to their achievement, such as: trauma, substance abuse, mental health needs, special education needs, human trafficking, etc.

Funds will be used to provide instruments, musical instruction, and music recording studio to students in then hopes of providing them with a therapeutic, pro-social outlet that supports their education, growth, and healing.

Alexandra’s Light of Hope, award of $5,000

Following the loss of their daughter, Kevin and Cathy Slane started the foundation in her memory. Efforts are focused on providing support to those in recovery who are working so hard on their path to becoming productive and proud members of our local communities. Funds are used provide aid with rent, food, and training for reentry into the job markets.

Butler County Community College Education Foundation, BC3 Pioneer Pantry, award of $3,000

Funds will be used to support the packaging of three holiday distributions during the 2024-2025 academic year for Thanksgiving 2024 (65 boxes) and Christmas Holiday 2024 (65 boxes) season and Easter 2025 (50 boxes). The holiday distributions see the largest number of student and employee participation and provide pantry patrons and their families with additional food for the holiday and over the extended campus closures

Children’s Advocacy Center of Butler County, award of $5,000

The Human Trafficking Taskforce of Butler County is a county initiative that is dedicated to combating human trafficking by providing individualized survivor care, long term stability, and the pursuit of justice to minors and adults affected by human trafficking through agency collaboration, education, and community connection. Funds will be used to provide awareness, support, resources, and education surrounding Human Trafficking, specifically in Butler County.

Victim Outreach Intervention Center (VOICe), award of $15,000.00

The Financial funding gap fill donation was made to the legal department of Victim Outreach Intervention Center (VOICe), the sole provider of domestic violence, sexual assault, and other crime services in Butler County.
