High School Mock Trial Competitions

In partnership with the Butler County Courts, the Butler County Bar Association Young Lawyers host the District 2, Region 1 Pennsylvania Statewide High School Mock Trial Competition at the Butler County Courthouse.

Steve Casker, Esquire volunteers as the regional coordinator and is responsible for coordinating the District 2, Region 1 competition between teams of high school students from high schools in Armstrong, Butler & Lawrence counties.

The students are given the opportunity to act as lawyers and witnesses in simulated civil and criminal trials before actual judges and panels of juries. Lawyers volunteer to assist students as team advisors, scorekeepers and regional coordinators. Each year, the winning team goes on to represent Pennsylvania in the national competition.

Information about the competition can be found here.

Thank you!

On behalf of Steve and the students, teachers and advisors who participate in the annual competition, we would like to thank the many volunteers who give of their time to make this a wonderful learning experience for the students. We depend on the support of our members, local Judges, Court Administration and the Butler County Sheriff's office to provide a high-quality educational and competitive experience to the students and to this annual event! Without all of you -- we could not do it.
